EastLink website and account changes
Some changes have been made to the EastLink website and the way an EastLink account works.
You may notice these changes when performing specific tasks, outlined below.
When making an online enquiry without logging in
A new, easier to use online form is now available when making an online enquiry without logging in.
When adding a vehicle to your account
If the vehicle is registered in Victoria, when you enter the vehicle's licence plate number, our system will usually now auto-populate all the vehicle details, including: make, model year, body type, and tolling vehicle class.
This makes adding a vehicle to an account quicker and easier. It will also help customers identify whether a mistake was made when providing the licence plate number (which can lead to problems down the line).
When ordering an additional tag
When you want to order an additional tag (including when adding a new vehicle), our system now checks the number of vehicles linked to the account as well as the total number of tags currently on issue to the account.
The additional tag order will only proceed if there are sufficient vehicles to justify it.
For example:
- If an account already has two cars linked to it and two car tags currently on issue, an order for an additional car tag will be declined.
- If an account already has one car linked to it and two car tags currently on issue, when linking a second car to the account it won't be possible to order another tag.
If you are wanting an additional tag to replace a lost or stolen tag, you need to contact us to let us know about the lost or stolen tag prior to ordering the additional tag.
If you are wanting an additional tag for a new vehicle, you need to link the new vehicle to the account. During that process, you will be asked if you need an additional tag and/or tag holder for the new vehicle. The order for an additional tag will proceed provided the total number of tags won't exceed the number of vehicles.
When ordering a tag holder
In recent months we have switched to a newer style of tag for all new tag orders.
The newer style tag requires a different tag holder.
So when you are ordering an additional tag holder for a tag that has already been issued to you, the system will ask you to select which of the two tag designs you are wanting the tag holder for.
IMPORTANT:
The newer style tag works exactly the same as the older style tag.
If you have an older style tag and it's working correctly, there is no need to change over to the newer style tag.
Newer style tag
Issued by EastLink from mid September 2019
Older style tag
